Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Cal State L.A.'s MBA program is designed to develop general managers capable of working in an increasingly multicultural and global environment.  Key elements include:

  • A participative, student-centered learning environment

A key objective of Cal State L.A.ís College of Business and Economics is to serve the needs of working professionals.  Accordingly, classes are offered during evenings and occasionally on weekends.  This newly structured MBA program provides all of the features of a full-time program on a convenient evening schedule.  

The MBA Curriculum 

The curriculum includes the following: Required Core courses (32 quarter units), Elective or Option courses (16 quarter units), Comprehensive Exam, and possible courses from the Foundations of Business list, mainly for students who do not have bachelorís degrees in business administration.  Any Foundations courses must be completed before undertaking the Required Core. 

Required Core

 The MBA core courses are presented in a cross-functional, integrative manner that provides a comprehensive view of the structure of business operations.  Students learn to view and analyze business problems from a variety of perspectives.  The six ore courses provide the skills and competencies students will need to be effective business leaders in the 21st century.

Foundations of Business 

The Foundations of Business courses provide the theoretical concepts and quantitative tools that are the foundations for making business decisions.  These courses present the theory and application of tools from accounting, economics, finance, information systems, statistics, management, and marketing. Some or all of these requirements may be waived for qualified applicants with bachelorís degrees in business administration.
