Our Mission
Business Forum is a quarterly journal of contemporary
business issues and thought, produced as an educational
service by the College of Business and Economics at
California State University, Los Angeles.
Business Forum was born in the summer of 1975. Although
the publication was launched as Los Angeles Business &
Economics, its mission has never wavered: to be a
lightning rod for enlightened ideas and research and a
forceful beacon in spreading the helpful wisdom of
professionals in the business and academic communities.
The name
of the publication was changed to Business Forum in
1983 to reflect the national and international evolution of
the journal^s content and readership. Business Forum
today is dedicated to improving the effectiveness of
business in contemporary society. The journal strives to
achieve this goal and stimulate innovative thinking among
its readers by providing a forum for fresh ideas, thoughtful
commentary, and possible solutions to business problems. Few
publications fill this unique niche.
Our Readership
The pages
of Business Forum are open to authors who employ
their general and specialized knowledge to present
their findings and reasoned opinions to sophisticated
readers. Although our readers may be "a cut above the
average," that does not imply that they are steeped in the
jargon or intricacies of any one aspect of business or
economics. Our readers are business people, academicians,
and students. Articles are intended to add to their
awareness of developments in specific fields of business,
such as marketing or information systemsZbut in a general
sense, not a technical one There are other journals to
facilitate the dialogue, say, between one econometrician and
another.
Our Authors
Business Forum is not a magazine of business news. Its
articles are not written by reporters, but by experts in
their field. We include as experts those who learn from
scholarship and those who speak from the authority of their
experience and achievement. Our authors give depth and
significance to their subject matter and have the
perspective to derive and articulate the implications of
their observations. Their articles may spark controversy or
spawn inquiry, but they are always thought provoking and
meaningful. |
